Consume Me
My project aims to reveal how the Media portrays Mental Illness in a glamorized and romanticized way. For the deliverables I wanted to display the idea of Media projections and reality in a visual Metaphor. I have treated the Media’s projections of Mental Illness as a ‘tangible lens’ and have focused on displaying a physical juxtaposition of Mental Illness and the characteristics made by Pop Media to compare the difference of portrayals.

Consume Me Research Journal

This Publication is a series of envelopes holding postcards that retain symbolic imagery - open for interpretation.

Each Postcard has a "cold" image to juxtapose its design in order to accentuate the theme of 'Reality vs. Romanticism'. It also emphasizes the purpose of this project which is to bring attention to the harmful consequences of romanticizing Mental Illness within the Media.

The Medicine Box
To complement the book, I created a medicine box to further the idea and act as a visual representation. The outside packaging would consist of explicit warnings and definitions of chosen Illness', whilst the inside would appear desirable and almost candy-like to contradict the idea.
